Sanitize it! If you need to sanitize your RV water tank and system and didn't know how, then this article is for you! Best time to begin this chore is first thing in the morning, due to the time it takes to properly sanitize the system. First, you need to drain the tank, switch off your water pump, bypass your hot water heater, and then close the your tank drain before the next step; adding bleach. Using either your potable water port, or your drinking water hose, add 1/4 cup of bleach for every 15 gallons of water in your freshwater tank. Our tank is 100 gallons, so we use 1 3/4 cups when we do this. Then refill your fresh water tank. (I use a funnel to add bleach to our fresh water hose as i refill the water tank. This way, I sanitize the hose while filling and sanitizing the fresh water tank). Then, set your water heater on bypass, and turn on your water pump. Run your faucets etc., one at time until you can smell bleach (then shut off. Begin with the faucet furthest from your water pump) When you have completed all water outlets, then let things set for 8 hours. After this time, make sure to switch off your water pump, and drain your tank once more. Then refill the fresh water tank, switch on the water pump, and run your water faucets again until you no longer smell bleach. Finally, reverse your water heater bypass back to normal flow, and you're done!--Ben
